Shampoo substitute

In my never ending quest to do it cheaper and better, I have found that there are a lot of products and services we buy we can easily make or do for ourselves.  I give you shampoo.  First of all, shampoo is a detergent, which automatically ought to put you on notice that it is a harsh product.  Second, there are all kinds of strange chemicals and colors in it, and third, it is just expensive.

Try baking soda.  Just wet your hair and put a glob of baking soda on your head and scrub away.  There won't be suds.  The baking soda will just take out the dirt.  For good measure, you might rinse with water, then with a mix of vinegar and water to get the remains out, or not.  It really comes out just fine without the vinegar rinse.

And there is no residue, no dry scalp, no dry hair.  It actually makes the hair literally squeaky clean.  Voila.  Don't you just feel like you won something?
